Polarities of Effective Leadership

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

Polarities are independent pairs of contrasting behaviors that work together to bring effective results.

  • Clear yet Flexible: Defining expectations yet listening and altering when makes sense

  • Visionary yet Grounded: Creating new things/ideas within the confines of knowing capabilities.

  • Self-Assured yet Humble: Having confidence in the uncertainty and the realization of it.

  • Directive yet Participative: Knowing when to tell and when to ask.

  • Task yet Relational: The MOST necessary, this is getting things done through the trust that is developed; when the team members needs are recognized as greater than own.
